Instructor: Dawn Barath

Film history is complex and expansive, and to some considerable degree, film was invented in the U.S. This session will broadly trace the history of American film, taking a close look at important films and the filmmakers of American cinema from late 19th century-on. Experience films from silents and talkies through today, including Hollywood’s Golden Age.

About the Presenter: Dawn Barath is a recent retiree who volunteered to present for MORE. She taught high school language arts for 35 years at Lake Shore and Detroit Public Schools. Her concentration was film studies, theatre, and American and British literature. She is looking forward to sharing her enthusiasm for film with other film buffs. A Part II version of this class is planned for future MORE sessions.
